glass beauty

you know that i love glass, and that i enjoy playing with it and am amazed by the wondrous things it does when 'gently' fired to blistering temperatures. here some other beautiful pictures of glass, and important uses for it, might i just say...
a full tray of pretty glasses, filled with a delicious mix of liquids - served on my bubunia's stainless steel tray.
aah, and crystal...there is nothing like it.

mi familia

a family feast.
berlach family feasts are not that regular...but when they do occur, there is no shortage of raucous and rioting. when all the members are placed together in one small area there is as many conversations happening as there are members and no shortage of laughing and jest.
food is relatively key to any such meeting, which i think can be traced back to my bubunia and her wonderful provision of food for her family, who you can read a little about here and here. both my mum and dad are really brilliant, but most importantly adventurous cooks who cooked me anything from italian to lebanese while growing up (even though our strongest ancestral roots are polish and english). we always set the table, prepared the water and the wine and sat and enjoyed the food before us - critiquing the finer points of the cuisine along the way.
here are some images from one of those most recent evenings at my beloved brother and sister's home. you can check out their love for food and family at the beetle shack.
one very happy customer. totally satisfied by the generously coated tandoori chicken, fresh carrot and coriander salad and zesty cocktail.
an evening of indian feasting enjoyed with a cocktail of two. (cocktail - coriander + grapefruit mule kinda thing...delicious)

here are some of my earrings that i've made of late for wood|GLASS...planning on making a heap more for an upcoming event. you want some too?
i love the dichroic, it is like a vision of something under the sea or something else beautiful of the like. the colours playing under that clear glass encasing is incredible.
i wear a white pair as my everyday staple earring. so easy|so pretty. i hope you like them...and if you do, then maybe you would want to buy some? contact me if this might be the case...

my husband works, from home.

and i like it. its a new thing...lets say only a couple'months young. and i love that he has made the big step, starting his own engineering adventure (he just calls it a business!), and works from home. it has been particularly nice since i have been on school holidays...at home too.

things i enjoy about it:
being able to make him vanilla milkshakes and walk them down to his desk.

prepare him freshly cooked foods - like today, i took him down some freshly deviled eggs to snack on. he closed his eyes whilst enjoying them - not responding to anything i said...ahh.

being able to distract him so easily, and coaxed him into going and getting ice-cream in the middle of the day. bonus!

the fact that he can start dinner, if i'm going to be home late.

and of course, that he can keep my bestest canine companion company while i'm out at work.

would you/do you work from home? i think i should i start...

*snow*

the last week was spent by me and 25 others at the top of a mountain...far far away, in a white winterland of snow and ice. it was so beautiful - on the days that there weren't gale force winds! no, it really was good. have a look at some of these...
check out my view, i looked at this every morning.there was some beautifying done while we watched the fabled state of origin football match on wednesday eve.
these i-Phone apps make picture taking fun on your phone...i like this one.

. :glass: .

my good friend, one who has known me since my birth, and seen a lot of my junior years is a beautifully loving and creative woman, who i admire. on my recent trip West i visited her and saw her latest work (she is a glass artist who has worked with the magical material for over 25 years), and commissioned her with a piece for myself. i was so elated when it arrived in the post - and i haven't taken it off since. it hugs my wrist with a an appreciated weight, reflecting light and colour so vividly.
before i went on holidays, i had some time in the studio making some earrings and pendants for impending sales (i hope). here are some images...
with a necessary glass of wine...to get the creativity flowing.
